Choosing headphones
Nathaniel Baldwin invented headphones in 1910. The
first dynamic headphones, the DT 48, were produced in 1937. Quadrophonic
headphones were developed in 1973.
Loudness is measured in decibells, named after Alexander
Graham Bell. Bell also was a teacher of speech to the deaf (his
mother and his wife was deaf). In 1879 he created an audiometer
to detect hearing loss.
